The team of physiotherapists and administrative staff at Goulburn Physiotherapy Centre are friendly, caring and professional. They place a strong emphasis on providing excellent customer service to ensure that your experience at our clinic is positive in every way and one which you will want to tell your family, friends and colleagues about.
Our therapists attend regular professional training to ensure that their knowledge and skills remain up to date in all areas of clinical service which we provide. This ensures that our clients are able to receive the most current, safe and effective treatments available for a wide range of clinical conditions. All of our physiotherapists are fully registered with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency.
As the owner and principal therapist of Goulburn Physiotherapy Centre, with over 17 years of clinical experience, I’ve had the ability to explore my passion for providing excellent Physiotherapy services and health advocacy in our community.
I am expertly trained in the areas of Lymphoedema, Women’s & Men’s Health and Paediatrics and I use a highly practiced level of technical and communication skills that I have learned throughout my career. This allows me to provide excellent care to your whole family, regardless of their stage in life, whether it be as a young infant, during pregnancy or later in life.
In my down time I love exercising, enjoying family time (and travel) and participating in community events.
Since joining the team in 2015, I continue to enjoy the opportunity to expand the scope of my practice, now including specialised management of Temporomandibular Joint (jaw) dysfunction, Lymphoedema (management of swelling) and spinal & peripheral joint pain. I am expertly trained in joint manipulations.
With a special interest in neuropathic and complex pain, I thrive on educating patients about pain and injury and how to manage their symptoms. I utilise a functional approach to movement in order to assist with manual handling training, the management of neck and back pain, sporting and soft tissue injuries. My work mates refer to me as the resident guru of respiratory conditions.
I love exploring our local bush tracks, seeing nature and cooking!
Through my love of gym-based strength training and AFL, I have developed extensive skills in the areas of tendon injury and pain management. Working closely with my patients, I seek to optimise their rehabilitation by combining the latest research with personal experience and a specialised knowledge of hydrotherapy exercise. This might be dealing with a long-term complaint, recovering from a workplace or sporting injury or as pre/post surgical management, for example.
If I’m not at work or the gym, you’ll find me catching up with friends, tending to my lawn or spending time with family.
I enjoy working with people everyday to help them achieve their goals and improve overall well being. I love learning more about how people tick, and in how many different ways we can assist people to improve their lives. Combining a hands-on approach with education on the latest in pain science and rehabilitation guidelines, my empathetic nature allows a two-way relationship for my patients to learn what they need as we achieve their goals.
We see a very diverse range of conditions in the clinic, but I also have a special interest in the management of Men’s Health conditions, Hand Therapy/Splinting and Spinal Cord Injury. I am a passionate educator and enjoy working with our Physio students to help them achieve their potential in a collaborative approach to learning.
I'm a very proud father, love my dog and all things sport. You could say that I’m a massive foodie and still have a passion for travelling the world with my wife, sharing foreign cuisines and culture and can’t wait to share this with our daughter.
They say that communication is key, and I’d agree. I am a quiet achiever and love communicating and collaborating with my patients and team to improve patient outcomes across the board. As a keen runner myself, I enjoy the challenge of working with runners to assess their movement patterns and injuries. Whether it be for a weekend 5km run or an ultramarathon, I work closely with each runner to provide individualised prescriptive exercises to assist them in achieving their best running form. I am also working closely with Karen to help provide assessment and treatment for our local women with issues of urinary incontinence, prolapse and pregnancy related pain as well as helping women recover optimally following child birth.
An extensive caseload of NDIS clients has built my skills in working with my patients to develop long term exercises and rehabilitation programs to assist in improving mobility, managing pain and maintaining independence in daily activities.
I enjoy getting outdoors with my partner and our choccie lab ‘Bear’, good food and a lovely drop of wine!
Growing up in a high-level sporting environment has led me to develop a strong interest in the management of sporting conditions, throughout the lifetime of an athlete, incorporating comprehensive rehabilitation programs to go alongside game-day management, taping and acute injury management. Since starting at Goulburn Physiotherapy Centre I have really come to enjoy neurological rehabilitation, hand therapy and sports injury management. With increasing skills and experience in these areas I can confidently work with my clients to make specialised hand and finger splints for different types of hand and finger injuries and post-surgical management. I also love working with people whom have had strokes or other brain injuries to help them achieve their best physical ability and quality of life, every day.
I’m not shy of a challenge and enjoy working alongside my patients to achieve their desired outcomes. When I’m not at work or out with friends, you will find me trying to participate in whatever sport I can get my hands on!
As a local girl from a large rural family, I am extremely familiar with the close-knit community culture which we have here in Goulburn. I have excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanor which allow me to interact with my clients in an easy-going, yet professional, manner. I also know a thing or two about shearing, lamb marking, crutching and most things rural. So when my clients are experiencing pain or have sustained injuries from farming activities, I am well equipped to be able to work with them to get them back out in the paddock as quickly but safely as possible. Whilst studying I worked as a swimming teacher with children aged 3-10 years and I feel that I can interact easily with this age group, which is great for when I treat younger children with injuries and/or disabilities. I love to keep active through playing hockey, swimming and water skiing and walking and I also love to help people achieve the best versions of themselves. As a physio, I get to do this each and every day.
Abdel joins our team as a Physiotherapist, all the way from Egypt. In late February 2023, Abdel made the very hard decision to leave his family (his wife and 3 children) in Egypt to come to Australia to work.
With a long international experience, 10 years, in treating musculoskeletal, neurological and paediatric Physiotherapy cases in Egypt, Abdel felt that it was time to expand his experience as a Physiotherapist, working in Australia with our great team of physios.
Abdel has an extensive range of manual therapy techniques which he uses to help his patients manage pain and recover from injury. His biggest enjoyment of being a Physio is seeing his clients getting better session by session.
Abdel enjoys riding horses, playing soccer and having “stay at home movie nights” with his wife and three children.
Following his own love of playing soccer, Abdel has also just completed a FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine which is run by the International Football Association. This makes him an ideal physiotherapist to come and see at the clinic for anyone with football (soccer) injuries and rehabilitation needs.
We are so lucky to have such an experienced Physiotherapist join our team and to help us continue in our business goals of providing high quality, safe and effective physiotherapy services to our local community.
Even when you don’t see my face in the clinic, as the Office Manager, I am constantly working away to ensure that the quality of service that we offer is the best it could be. I have been with Goulburn Physiotherapy Centre for over 7 years and have helped to steer the administration team to exceptional standards throughout this time. As the first point of contact for our services, my exceptional understanding of a variety of case types and presentations helps me guide you to the best suited practitioner for your needs.
In 2018 I was awarded an Excellence in Customer Service Award through the Goulburn Business Excellence Awards. When I’m not working, I’m busy in other roles with Relay for Life and local P&C commitments, or spending time with my beautiful family in all their pursuits.
Allanah has joined our team as a junior receptionist. She is studying at Mulwaree High School and has a strong interest in health care and whilst we may not be able to convince Allanah to become a Physiotherapist, she has her sights set on Radiology at Canberra University after her high school completion.
Allanah has worked locally in small business customer service jobs; thus allowing her to develop a strong sense of community as well as helping her to gain important skills in customer service: communication, empathy and professionalism. Allanah can be found in the reception area mostly in the afternoons and will always bring a smile to your face with her bubbly personality and kind nature.
Hannah joins our team as a receptionist for 12 months whilst she is taking a “gap year” before commencing her university studies in 2024.
Hannah is from a large family and finished her secondary schooling at Mulwaree High School at the end of 2022. Whilst working at the clinic, Hannah is also studying a Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology. Hannah enjoys running, reading, music (she plays the trumpet really well) and being involved in our local community. Hannah is taking this year off study to work as well as to develop her personal, spiritual, social and physical development.
Grace joins our team as a receptionist after having completed her Certificate 3 in Business Admin whilst living away from home in Orange in 2022.
Grace lives on a local, rural property with her family and enjoys photography, pyrography (wood burning) as well as running with her Border Collie dog “She”.
Paul is a local Goulburn lad whom is currently studying his Masters in Physiotherapy at Canberra University.
Paul has completed an undergraduate degree in Exercise Sports Science as well as a Graduate Certificate in Human Movement. The knowledge gained from these studies, as well as his own experience in the gym, on a basketball team and more recently a triathlon makes Paul a highly capable Allied Health Assistant. Paul works under the direct and indirect supervision of our Physiotherapists in delivering rehabilitation programs to many of our clients, both at the clinic and in their homes.
