Tips on improving your health

Orthotics

What are they?

Orthotics are inserts that are fitted into your shoes to alter the surface you are walking on, in order to adjust the forces/loads exerted on the body. Orthotics are used in conjunction with manual therapy and exercise therapy to help treat discomfort/pain.

How are they fitted?

We assess your walking, foot posture and leg length. We then determine the best type of orthotic for your foot based on your biomechanics and the activities which you undertake regularly. The orthotics are then heat moulded to your feet and adjusted in order to correct any assessed abnormality.

What can they help treat?

  • Foot pain
  • Bunions
  • Knee pain
  • Hip pain
  • Low back pain
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Hip bursitis
  • ITB syndrome
  • Patella femoral pain syndrome
  • Gluteal/buttock pain
