Functional Capacity Evaluations
- Pre-Employment Screening
A Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is an assessment that is used to evaluate an individual's capacity to perform work-specific tasks. FCEs may be used as pre-employment screening tests to determine whether an applicant is suitable for a particular job or role based upon their physical fitness and functional ability. FCEs can also be used to assess the capacity for an injured worker to return to their job role following a workplace injury and assist in developing appropriate return to work plans.
Functional activities which may be assessed are:
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: loads and techniques
- Joint range of movement and special tests to asses pain responses to movements and stresses
- Balance, squatting
- Cardiovascular endurance
- Vision, heart rate, pulse, height, weight and BMI
Goulburn Physiotherapy Centre is equipped to carry out the necessary health checks, fitness testing and functional assessments involved in FCEs and our experienced physiotherapists can also assist in managing any concerns or injuries that are identified throughout these assessments. We can provide FCEs for local and interstate companies, employment agencies, insurance companies and individuals.
